This song was released in a different form on our "All for One" EP, but as we were developing our 4th Anniversary show in August of 2011 we decided to debut a new rock version, inspired by classic power ballads like "Purple Rain" or "Every Rose Has Its Thorn".
Our new rhythm section of Aaron Bromberg (drums) and Ben Gibbs (bass) really helped kick it up a notch with a big, full sound.
lyrics
Angelina, dawn is breaking,
Through the clouds and shines upon
Our bedroom wall.
And I have lain awake all night,
Just trying to shape the words,
To pull the pain from it all.
When you awake I'll smash your dreams,
And bear the curses and the screams,
I made this world.
Called you 'cross a thousand miles,
Why did you hearken to my smiles?
My effervescent, incandescent, perfect Sourwood Mountain girl?
CHORUS:
Cause I lied when I said I'd read the book,
Told me it would all work out.
And I lied when I said I'd read the book,
Told me we were never in doubt.
Know you were exasperated,
How I never hesitated,
To call you mine.
Prophesies sealed by the fates,
Of shared apartments, wedding dates,
Foretold and divine.
Effervescent pop without a drop of irony, perfectly geared for fans of the more dance-oriented side of indie music and Tears for Fears. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 2, 2023
